Troye Floyd and Ryan Sealock were awarded firefighter of the quarter. They both recently completed new recruit training and have certified as Colorado State Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials Operations. Both Troye and Ryan have extensive experience as wild land firefighters and saw the need to help other new firefighter recruits obtain training in wild land firefighting. They volunteered to conduct classes that have provided essential wild land firefighter training to new firefighters as well as members of the Olathe Fire Department and Montrose County Sheriff’s Posse.

SPRING BURNING TIPS

1. Look at the local predicted weather the night before:  (If the winds are predicted high or Am winds are predicted then (DON’T BURN.)

2. Call Montrose Dispatch center at 252-4020 and let them know you will be conducting a controlled burn. (This will help us and you in two ways by finding out if there is a burn ban on and also by reducing the number of false alarms reported to the Fire Department by passer by’s.

The Montrose Fire Protection District is coordinating with the Montrose Recreation District and the election will be a polling place election held at the Montrose Recreation Districts offices located at 25 Colorado Ave.
